Nashville songwriter Marshall Chapman has had her songs recorded by artists ranging from Crystal Gayle and Sawyer Brown to Joe Cocker and Jimmy Buffett. As an actress, she worked with Tim McGraw and Gwyneth Paltrow when she played Paltrow’s manager in “Country Strong.”
Later this year, she’ll add leading man Ryan Reynolds to that list.
Chapman will appear alongside Reynolds, who has starred in movies including “The Green Lantern” and “The Proposal,” in the movie “Mississippi Grind.”
Chapman plays Reynolds’ mother in the flick, which she will start shooting in February in New Orleans.
“I have one scene, and, if it doesn't end up on the cutting-room floor, it'll be my longest-speaking scene to date,” she said via an e-mail from an Internet station in Mexico. “My character is a chain-smoking, seen-it-all blues singer in New Orleans, the mother of a drifter/gambler played by Ryan Reynolds.”
Chapman’s scene is with Reynolds.
“Now all I have to do is ... act naturally!!” she wrote.
IMDb reports that actress Sienna Miller and actor Ben Mendelsohn are also in the film, which will be directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck.
